Stainless steel is used in many industries. Applications vary widely, for example where cleaning is important, such as food service, or where corrosion resistance is important, such as exposure to chemicals or weather. Prestige has the experience to guide you in your choice of alloys for various applications.
Prestige manufactures with stainless everyday. We have experience and equipment to cut, form, weld, punch, and many other operations.
Stainless alloys commonly available:
|
ALLOY TYPE |
|
|
304 |
This is the standard all purpose stainless used for the majority of fabrications. |
|
316 |
Better corrosion and pitting resistance and higher strength at elevated temperatures. |
|
430 |
An economical stainless with good resistance to heat and corrosion in mild atmospheres. It is magnetic and has no nickel content. |
The most common finishes available in sheet stock (max. thickness .135) are "#2B" a dull grey known as mill finish, and "#4" which is polished (150 to180 grit) to produce a brushed look. A #4 finish is typically supplied with a pressure sensitive adhesive plastic film on the polished side to protect the finish from scratches.
Stainless steel plate (generally .179” thick and up) is most commonly available as hot rolled, annealed, and pickled. Sometimes referred to as "HRAP”, this is the material used for manufacturing parts because the pickling process produces a surface that works for laser cutting among other operations.
