We understand that many engineers have a great deal of expertise with the assembly of their product or machine. We meet them all the time. However, many of these same engineers do not have experience with precision sheet metal fabrication, and can often design parts that are needlessly complicated or expensive to make.

We can help. First, you need drawings. If you do not have drawings, we can make them by reverse engineering samples or by making new drawings from sketches. This is a communication process. We work to understand your application. Then we simplify the manufacturing of the part as much as possible. Co-engineering between the manufacturer and the designer is one of the best ways to get a quality low cost part. For example, we can add features which make assemblies self-locating, saving assembly time and fixture expense.

If you do have drawings that are CAD generated, the ideal format for manufacturing is a 3D solid model with any of the following file extensions: *.DWG, *.STP, *.SAT, *.IPT.

Note, however, if you do have CAD drawings and you want a quote, export your 3D model to a fully dimensioned *.PDF, *.DWG, or *.DXF format. This will speed the process.

Engineering Protocol
1. All parts need to be assigned a part number and revision level. If you do not have a part numbering system, Prestige will assign a working part number to use in our system. 2. CAD drawings for manufacturing should be drawn in 3-D solid model. We can work with file extensions: .DWG, .STP, .SAT, IPT 3. CAD drawings for quoting should be fully dimensioned .PDF, .DWG, or *.DXF 4. Title block information should be reviewed for tolerance requirements.
